In 2017 A.Celli Paper started-up an E-WIND® P100 rewinder at the Sichuan Jintian Paper plant, for a project of 1.2 million-tons producing grey cardboard.

Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) has begun using four AHEAD-2.0L PRODERGY tissue machines at its OKI mill, in South Sumatra, Indonesia, as part of a series of AHEAD-2.0L PRODERGY tissue machines.

These four machines, included in a major contract between Toscotec and APP, started production ahead of schedule, in just 60 days between August 14th and October 14th 2018.

Stora Enso and Sulapac continue to combat the global problem of plastic waste by launching a demo for sustainable drinking straws at Slush 2018, a leading startup event that gathers 20 000 tech enthusiasts from around the world. The demo, which targets production on an industrial scale, is designed to replace traditional plastic straws with renewable ones. The straws are based on Sulapac’s biocomposite material – made of wood and natural binders – designed to be recycled via industrial composting and biodegrade in marine environments.

According to Euwid, Suzano commits to dissolve Fibria's exclusive sales agreement with Klabin and transfer assets and business in Europe to Klabin.

The European Commission (EC) approved the acquisition of Brazil's pulp manufacturer Fibria by Suzano pursuant to the EU Merger Regulation. The competition authority says that the decision is conditional on Suzano's full compliance with the commitments offered by it.

Koppers Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Koppers Holdings Inc., recently announced that the company's 75-percent owned subsidiary, Koppers (Jiangsu) Carbon Chemical Company Limited (KJCC) is providing soft pitch product to its major customer in China under a special purchase order in an effort to manage product inventories at the plant in the fourth quarter.  The special purchase order will expire at the end of this year.  This purchase order is not intended to either resolve or affect the previously disclosed contractual dispute between KJCC and its major customer.

To respond to the growing global demand in the valve market, Metso has decided to invest in a new green-field valve technology center in Jiaxing, China. The new-build plant will strengthen Metso's valve and related products production capabilities and increase capacity for customers across various process industries, both in China and globally. Metso expects to invest a total of approx. EUR 10 million by 2020. The new technology center will start operations in spring 2020.

Hong Kong’s biggest paper maker is opening a new HK$5.1-billion production plant in Malaysia, as it looks to build on its growing presence in Southeast Asia and meet China’s increasing demand for paper.  

The new factory in Sepang, also the site of the Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix, will allow Lee and Man Paper to expand its capabilities in high-grade packaging paper. At full production, the plant will be able to churn out 700,000 tons of paper and 550,000 tons of pulp.

Valmet's delivery of a tissue machine restart package to Xiamen Sin Yang Paper TM 1 in China concluded with the restart of the machine in September 2018, with a speed of 1,100 m/min. The scope of Valmet's delivery included necessary project management, maintenance, spare parts, and the restart of the tissue machine, which was originally delivered by Valmet but had been idle due to market reasons since 2014.

At the Taison Group site, in Jiujiang, province of Jangxi (China), two A.Celli Model AC882 winders for tissue (PM7 & PM8) have been successfully started-up.

Assembly ended in mid-August, and the two A.Celli E-Wind lines, designed with a speed of 1000 mpm and an untrimmed roll width of 5600 mm, were started-up and put into production in less than one month: the Customer praised the professionalism of the A.Celli Paper Technicians and efficient, smooth start-up of the lines.

China’s Baosuo Paper Machinery signed an agreement with Karina Trading to supply a SF12-1000 tissue machine with designed capacity of 12,000 tons. The designed operation speed is 1000m/min and sheet width is 2860mm. The supply scope also includes pulp preparation system, water recovery system, automatic control system, etc.
